Keydata builds secure hard drives into its latest 300-MHz portables

The Keynote 7700 notebook PC takes several paths to security. Its KeySecurity IDE hard drive works only in a particular machine, unless altered by the manufacturer. thin-film-transistor display.
Also included are a 10/100-Mbps Ethernet interface, an internal V.90 modem and two
Universal Serial Bus ports. Users can choose preinstalled Microsoft Windows 95 or 98.
Keydata International Inc. of South Plainsfield, N.J., built into the top of the
plug-and-play notebook a charge-coupled-device camera with videoconferencing capability
and a 200-Mbps Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers 1394 FireWire port for
video capture and editing.
The $1,995 Keynote 7500 model has a 5G hard drive and the same processor and memory.
Keydata plans a 366-MHz Pentium II Keynote, said John Saling, the companys federal
sales director.
Agencies can buy Keydata products from the companys General Services
Administration Information Technology Schedule contract, the Navy Fleet Industrial Supply
Command in Norfolk, Va., and two regional GSA Federal Acquisition Service for Technology
blanket purchasing agreements.
Engineering Systems Solutions Inc. of Frederick, Md., sells the Keynote 7500 on the
Armys Counterintelligence/Human Intelligence Automated Tool Set contract.
