NEC releases three new eco-friendly LCD projectors
Connecting state and local government leaders
The M Series projectors, which save on power but not on image, are designed for classroom and conference room work.
NEC Display Solutions of America, already conquering the high-end of the LCD spectrum, is now turning its attention toward value, releasing three projectors that not only qualify as green IT, but can also help to save some of that other green as well. The M271X, M311X and M311W projectors are designed for educational and government settings and feature bright images, setup automation and energy savings over traditional projectors.
In terms of green IT, the projectors feature an ECO Mode to keep extra energy from being wasted, a carbon footprint savings meter, extended filter life and energy-saving features such as quick startup and direct power off. The M271X and M311X projectors offer lamp life up to 10,000 hours and a high contrast ratio of 3000:1. The M311W projector offers up to 8,000 hours of lamp life and the same contrast ratio. The projectors consume 12 percent less power in ECO Mode than earlier models.
NEC’s M Series is easy-to-use and budget-friendly, providing portability and brightness up to 3100 lumens. A new feature offered is the Wireless Imaging Utility, which enables users to send images from their iPad directly to the projector. Another feature called Crestron Roomview Connect offers unified management by controlling multiple projectors connected to a network while providing emergency messaging capabilities desired in today’s classrooms.
“The advanced networking capabilities, coupled with dual VGA, HDMI and USB inputs, make the projectors powerful tools for classroom and conference room use, including those in health-care environments” where medical imaging technology can be used, said Rich McPherson, senior product manager for projectors at NEC Display Solutions. “M Series projectors use the same lamps as their predecessors, allowing the lamp accessory to be compatible for customers planning a facility refresh but who want to use their existing lamps’ full lifecycle. This is a huge advantage to school districts and regional offices installing projectors at multiple locations," he added.
The M271X, M311X and M311W will be available in December 2012 at an estimated street price of $802, $912, and $989, respectively. Each projector ships with a two-year limited parts and labor warranty. The lamp is covered for one year or 500 hours of use, whichever comes first.
