DataMotion cloud secures e-mail, multiple messaging services

The City of Xenia, Ohio, is using the platform to establish secure electronic channels between residents and the city's utility billing and tax offices, said Diana Steck, a manager of the city’s accounts receivable division. “This is a much more convenient way for citizens to resolve their issues when compared to traditional phone or in-person queries,” Steck said. The city now has the tools to send encrypted e-mail to residents while the residents can, in turn, securely attach applications and files, reducing the need to take them to various billing divisions in person, said Peter Cafarchio, vice president of business development with DataMotion. DataMotion is making the platform available to systems integrators and other partners. As a platform-as-a-service cloud offering, the system lets partners integrate a secure data delivery hub into their particular client solutions and architectures. “To reduce costs and improve services in a time of declining revenue and budget cuts, our government customers need to give their citizens self-service tools to share sensitive personal information like birth dates, credit card and Social Security numbers,” said Teri Giesler, owner of InSource Solutions Group, which focuses on the municipal government market. The DataMotion Platform is easy to integrate and is intuitive to users, eliminating barriers to adoption, Giesler said. IT administrators can create and manage file transfers without the need for scripts, file directories or access control lists, which reduces complexity. Advanced reporting provides visibility into all transactions to ensure control. Also, easy-to-use encryption eliminates the need for a public-key infrastructure. Its architecture also provides the flexibility to incorporate any number of systems, workflows and organizations. The platform integrates with major applications, including Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Notes, Novell GroupWise, Salesforce.com, Citrix, and smart-phone and tablet devices. The DataMotion Platform offers a transaction-based, pay-as-you-go business option, so organizations can start with smaller deployments and scale to any number of transactions, officials said.

The DataMotion Platform provides a unified, secure and compliant cloud-based hub for delivering messages, files and forms. The platform also integrates different systems in a fully auditable manner secured by military-grade encryption, DataMotion officials said.
