Connecting state and local government leaders
The online version will reflect up-to-date details on events, educational resources, professional associations and Web sites, and users will be able to conduct keyword searches on entries.
The International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium (ISC)2 has published its global information security resource guide online for the first time.
The “2009 Resource Guide for Today’s Information Security Professional, Global Edition” is now available at https://resourceguide.isc2.org. The organization will also continue distributing the guide in printed form. However, the online version will reflect up-to-date details on events, educational resources, professional associations and Web sites. In addition, users will be able to conduct keyword searches on entries. Both versions are free.
The organization’s first guide, released in 2004, was a pilot edition focused on U.S. government content. It expanded in scope in 2005 to cover industrywide resources for the Americas region and again in 2006 to incorporate global content and distribution. Professionals can obtain the guide in print or on CD-ROM at a variety of conferences throughout the year. They can also request a printed copy or a downloadable PDF at www.isc2.org/resourceguide.
“The (ISC)2 resource guide is considered by many information security professionals and managers around the world as the go-to source for educational and networking information, especially important in these economically difficult times,” said W. Hord Tipton, the organization’s executive director, in a statement. “The online format will only enhance its value to those in the information security field who want to quickly reference valuable resources.”
During its 20-year history, (ISC)2 has certified more than 60,000 information security professionals in more than 130 countries. Several of its certifications are among the first information technology credentials to meet the requirements of International Standard ANSI/ISO/IEC 17024, a global benchmark for assessing and certifying personnel. The organization also offers a continuing professional education program and education products and services, and it commissions an annual Global Information Security Workforce Study.
