Welcome to the new, improved GCN.com
Connecting state and local government leaders
GCN.com is more valuable than ever, thanks to a new design that brings all that Government Computer News has to offer into a sharper online focus. You'll continue to find breaking government IT news on our home page, but we've added new valuable features:
- Hot Topics: Most articles are now listed by topic, under the Hot Topic links on the left side of each page. Want to stay updated on GCN coverage of Security issues, for example? Then come back daily and click on "Security" under Hot Topics and read the latest. Hot topic pages are updated every time a breaking news article is posted to the home page.
- Current issues: Gone are the days when you had to browse through 10 or more web pages to find links to articles from GCN, State & Local, or Shopper issues. From now on, each issue is presented to you from a single page, with links to each article. For example, check out the just-published August edition of GCN Shopper.
- Actions, not talk: Solutions Central brings you GCN articles about real-life solutions government IT managers have found for their technology challenges. The GCN home page will highlight new Solutions regularly, and you can view all the articles at Solutions Central.
- Spotlight on product coverage: GCN's Lab Guys, as well as its staff reporters, write extensively about IT products. The staff also produces hundreds of buyers guide articles each year. We now have a place to focus this valuable product information and analysis: Product Central. Check back soon for the debut of Product Central, which will include a products-only search engine.
- Events calendar: Events are broken out by type, so you can see corporate, government and GCN-sponsored events listed separately. We've also added an advanced search for events.
- Family ties: Many describe the government IT community as being like a big family. GCN.com now focuses on the people part of government IT with a Community home page. Check here to find news about your peers. You can even submit People on the Move news to us via this form.
- FirstGov.gov search: We're partnering with FirstGov.gov to offer a search of their extensive index from our web site. Check in the top left corner of each page.
