Rear Adm. Vivien S. Crea, who has blazed new trails in the Coast Guard since being commissioned in 1973, was honored this month with Women in Technology's Lifetime Achievement Award at the Fourth Annual WIT Leadership Awards Banquet in Vienna, Va.

Rear Adm. Vivien S. Crea, who has blazed new trails in the Coast Guard since being commissioned in 1973, was honored this month with Women in Technology's Lifetime Achievement Award at the Fourth Annual WIT Leadership Awards Banquet in Vienna, Va.

Crea, the Guard's former CIO, recently has been working on its enterprise architecture and E-Coast Guard initiatives. She currently commands the First Coast Guard District and Maritime Defense Command One, based in Portsmouth, Va.

Her long list of firsts includes being the first woman in the Coast Guard to serve as an aircraft commander, air station commanding officer, military aide to the president and, in 2000, the first to be promoted to rear admiral.

WIT gave its government leadership award to Deborah Loudon, deputy CIO of the National Reconnaissance Office. Loudon received a Hammer Award during the Clinton administration for her work as program manager of the Defense Department's purchase card program.

Entrepreneur Award: Kimberly McCabe of Advanced Performance Consulting Group Inc. of Washington Women in Technology Champion: Marguerete Luter of Unisys Corp.
