<b>Common Access Architecture</b>. The enterprise initiative will employ a public-key infrastructure, digital signatures and other authentication measures to validate employee access to facilities, restricted areas and information systems. The initiative is designed to follow Transportation's strategic plan to achieve e-government and security goals for a more secure workplace and IT infrastructure.

The enterprise initiative will employ a public-key infrastructure, digital signatures and other authentication measures to validate employee access to facilities, restricted areas and information systems. The initiative is designed to follow Transportation's strategic plan to achieve e-government and security goals for a more secure workplace and IT infrastructure.. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's Internet query system is designed to dramatically increase access to motor carrier safety information for state and federal law enforcement personnel. The system pulls data from numerous U.S. and Mexican sources for drivers, vehicles and carriers, and presents a summary of the information. The system was initially developed for use during roadside inspections along the border, but it will be upgraded over time to provide additional information for compliance review.. The departmentwide portal provides enterprise management of Transportation's critical assets. The system tracks all systems, integrates security baselines, scans continuously for vulnerabilities, and provides centralized measurement and reporting required under the Federal Information Security Management Act.
