President Bush recently created the position at the Health and Human Services Department to accelerate federal efforts to adopt health technology such as electronic prescriptions and health records.Health and Human Services secretary named Brailer to the job this month.The president has set a goal of assuring that most Americans have electronic health records within 10 years.Brailer most recently was a senior fellow at the Health Technology Center in San Francisco, where he has advised various regional and national efforts on IT and health information exchange., who had been the FBI's acting CIO since mid-January, now has the job officially. FBI director recently appointed Amzi, who had taken over the acting-CIO job from executive assistant director for administration .Azmi will have overall responsibility for the FBI's IT programs including development of an IT strategic plan and budget, oversight of technology assets, and managing technical aspects of business process re-engineering.Before joining the FBI, Azmi was Mueller's colleague at the Justice Department's Executive Office for U.S. Attorneys. He also worked as a computer scientist for the Commerce Department's Patent and Trademark Office.President Bush has named chief financial officer of the Transportation Department. She has been CFO at the Environmental Protection Agency since February 2002.The Senate must confirm Combs to replace , who left Transportation last August. has been named the new director of the Defense Finance and Accounting Service.Gaddy previously served as the agency's director for accounting services for the Air Force and several unified commands and Defense Department agencies. On May 30, Gaddy will replace , who in December left the top spot at DFAS to become senior deputy comptroller and chief financial officer at the Treasury Department's Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, which regulates the nation's banks.Before joining DFAS, Gaddy was the assistant for fiscal control in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Financial Management and Comptroller.
