The General Services Administration this month named <b>Casey Coleman</b> as the new CIO of the Federal Technology Service.Coleman replaces <b>Jimmy Parker</b>, who became the assistant regional administrator for GSA's Region 6 in Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska. Parker had been FTS CIO since 2000.

In her new position, Coleman will manage the department's IT that supports FTS' mission goals. She will lead the effort to develop and maintain the IT infrastructure supporting the more than $7 billion organization.
In his new role, Parker will oversee Region 6's telecommunications services, IT hardware and software acquisition, professional services, and integrated IT systems and network projects.
Homeland Security Department undersecretary for border and transportation security Asa Hutchinson has named Charles Armstrong the directorate's first CIO. He is Customs and Border Protection's acting assistant commissioner for information and technology and CIO of the department's customs agency.
A Customs spokeswoman said Armstrong would take over his new CIO duties in the next few days. In his current job, Armstrong has been deeply involved in the creation of CPB's Automated Commercial Environment project to overhaul the nation's methods for keeping track of tariffs, duties and fees levied on imports as well as managing other trade data.
Paul Chan is the new CIO of the National Weather Service.
He comes to the position after serving as CIO for the Economic Research Service of the Agriculture Department.
Chan takes over from Larry Curran, who had served as the NWS acting CIO since Barry West left the position in late October.
Larry Lanzillotta, who became acting Defense comptroller when Dov Zahkeim retired in April, left the Defense Department recently to go to Northrop Grumman Corp. Lanzillotta worked three years for the department.
Tina Jonas, who was nominated by President Bush in March to become the new undersecretary of Defense for finance and comptroller, awaits Senate confirmation.
Jonas currently is the FBI's chief financial officer and assistant director of its finance division.
Timothy J. Harp will become component acquisition executive at the Defense Finance and Accounting Service at the end of the month.
Harp is now deputy undersecretary of Defense for innovation and technology integration and special assistant to the Defense acquisition executive.
