If you're in the market for a new digital camera, the FujiFilm F700 is well worth a look. It is, hands down, the finest point-and-shoot digital camera I've ever used.

If you're in the market for a new digital camera, the FujiFilm F700 is well worth a look. It is, hands down, the finest point-and-shoot digital camera I've ever used.The camera's graphical interface is logically constructed and easy to use. It took about 10 minutes of toying with the camera to figure out almost every feature.Transferring images from the camera is as simple as connecting a USB cable from one end to the other, and the built-in lithium-ion battery was robust enough to last four hours of constant picture-taking.Regardless of lighting, the flash on the F700, from Fuji Photo Film USA Inc. of Edison, N.J., is powerful enough to take a good picture. And with a resolution of 6.1 million effective pixels, each image is a crisp as a film photograph.Be sure to have a large XD media card, though, because at the high-resolution setting'2,832 by 2,128 pixels'the images average 1.4M in size. The standard 16M XD card that came with the unit barely held 12 pictures.The F700 comes with a 3X optical zoom and a 2.2X digital zoom, which is powerful enough for most shots. It also can record video and audio.Perhaps my favorite feature of the F700 is its size. It measures only 4.3 by 1.1 by 2.1-inches and weighs about 6 ounces, making it an excellent camera for travel.The only downside I noticed was that some images, specifically those of water, would be grainy at maximum resolution.But with a price tag of about $375, that's a problem I'm willing to deal with.
