Debra M. Filippi, former deputy director of Marine Corps command, control, communications and computers, and deputy CIO, has taken over as program director of the Defense Information Systems Agency's new Net-Centric Enterprise Services initiative.
, former deputy director of Marine Corps command, control, communications and computers, and deputy CIO, has taken over as program director of the Defense Information Systems Agency's new Net-Centric Enterprise Services initiative.She replaces former agency chief technology officer , who left to take a job with America Online Inc.Filippi led the strategic planning and implementation for the Navy-Marine Corps Intranet, an $8.82 billion program that will consolidate voice, video and data systems across the Navy and Marine Corps. She has also worked as a Navy acquisition program manager.NCES is part of the Defense Department's larger Global Information Grid Enterprise Services initiative, which eventually is to integrate a common set of information services. NCES is exploring new concepts and technologies while it continues to define nine core services.Army , who has spent much of his career specializing in transformation, warrior training and strategic planning, has accepted a job with Anteon International Corp. of Fairfax, Va., as senior vice president in the Information Systems Group.Smith will oversee Anteon's Army and Defense programs in operations and logistics planning, transformation and training solutions.He recently retired from a 40-year military career that included a final post as deputy commanding general of XVIII Airborne Corps at Fort Bragg, N.C., an industrial engineer and health scientist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, has been awarded the Homeland Security Medal, in part for software he developed for the National Immunization Program. Washington's work included developing software for public health officials to use in preparing for a bioterror attack in addition to his research on immunizations.The award came as part of the Service to America Medals program, created in 2002 by the nonprofit Partnership for Public Service.President Bush plans to appoint of Texas as chief financial officer of the Housing and Urban Development Department.Bush nominated Barth June 1 and is expected to make the appointment during the congressional recess.Barth has been president of LB Capital Inc. of Houston and serves on the board of directors for Southwest Bank of Texas. She will replace , who left HUD last year.
