The Composite Health Care System, or CHCS II, will provide electronic medical records for approximately 9 million military health care beneficiaries, including active-duty military personnel, retirees, reservists and family members.
The base term of the contract is one year and has an estimated value of $31 million. Unisys can earn up to an additional $2 million in the base year by meeting or exceeding various performance measures.
The contract includes three, one-year options, each worth the same as the base year. If all options are exercised and the $2 million performance payment is earned each year, the total contract could reach more than $130 million.
The CHCS II system maintains medical records for life and was designed to be quickly accessed and easy to use. It was developed to deliver health care in all Army, Navy and Air Force military hospitals and clinics, aboard ships and in deployed medical facilities. The system integrates government-owned software with commercial, off-the-shelf products.
Under the contract, Unisys will provide training for approximately 60,000 Defense health care personnel at 75 military hospitals and 600 clinics worldwide. Trainers will have experience both in health care and training and will understand the business processes and workflow of providing care in military treatment settings.
"The DOD deserves credit for being at the vanguard of this emerging health care issue,' said Greg Baroni, president of Unisys Global Public Sector. 'The services Unisys provides in support of this contract will ultimately help make life easier for millions of American military men, women and families.'
