Connecting state and local government leaders
The Defense Information Systems Agency has awarded a contract for $1 million toMerlin Technical Solutions Inc. to provide service-oriented architecture governanceproducts for the agency's Net-Enabled Command Capability and Net-Centric EnterpriseServices initiatives.
Greenwood Village, Colo.-based Merlin
Technical Solutions is functioning as an
integrator under the DISA contract, using
SOA management tools developed by
Systinet Corp, of Burlington, Mass.
Merlin and Systinet will provide the first
federated development and certification
environment pilot node to DISA's NECC and
NCES programs. Systinet and DISA will
host a Webcast on July 18 to showcase the
early stages of the SOA governance work.
Air Force awards IV&V test-lab deal
The Defense Enterprise Account Management
Office at Scott Air Force Base, Ill., has
awarded a contract to Multimax Inc. for the
Independent Verification and Validation
Laboratory. The task order could be worth
up to $2.9 million over four years.
Multimax of Herndon, Va., will furnish all
materials, equipment, space, network and
Internet interfaces, networking, and system
administration to maintain a net-centric
software engineering test laboratory.
The contract is part of the Air Force's Network
Centric Solutions contract vehicle.
Netcents is a five-year, $9 billion acquisition
initiative to provide the Air Force, Defense
Department and other federal agencies with
a complete range of IT, networking, telephony
and security services and solutions.
Army, DataPath link up for network support
The Army Communications-Electronics
Command in Fort Monmouth, N.J., has
awarded a $72.9 million contract to Data-
Path Inc. of Duluth, Ga., to continue supporting
its Joint Network Node program.
DataPath will deliver 92 portable satellite
Earth terminals and provide support services
as part of the JNN initiative. The contract
includes the 92 DataPath ET 3000 Portables,
which the Army calls satellite communications
transportable terminals, and two
DataPath DKET 4530Ku Mobiles, known by
Army officials as unit hub SATCOM trucks.
Last fall, CECOM ordered 157 of the terminals
from DataPath under a $96 million
contract.
JNN began in 2004 and has since been
deployed to Iraq with the Army's 3rd Infantry,
101st Airborne, 4th Infantry and
10th Mountain divisions.
