A real standout performer in this review, the TDP-PX10U is light and bright and has enough extra features to keep any office professional happy for most presentations.Unlike some of the more consumer-oriented projectors, the TDP-PX10U is optimized as an office workhorse, exactly what a road warrior wants in a projector.For starters, the TDPPX10U weighs just 2 pounds, 9 ounces and can slip in just about anywhere. Useful features on the remote include a laser pointer, freeze frame and a handy switch that prevents a button from being pressed in your bag on the flight from Washington to Buffalo, N.Y., turning the unit on, draining the power and leaving you with no juice. Simply turn the remote off before packing it away.In terms of performance, it was able to display a 1,200-lumen image in the center of a screen at 10 feet. The drop-off to the corners was only 70 lumens, not enough for the naked eye to detect.The TDP-PX10U displayed most colors ' especially the red, blue and white commonly used in office presentations ' perfectly without any hint of hue variance.Even on a complex field of more than 200 shades of a single color, the lines between the levels were well-defined, a sign that the TDPPX10U is optimized for detail.Text looked good down to an average 8-point size with most fonts, and even smaller with standard fonts such as Helvetica.A criticism, though a slight one, is that dark images tended to get a bit washed out on dark backgrounds, and the screen was a little too bright when attempting to display true black. Also, it was good but not perfect with our color registration tests, which is no surprise given that the TDP-PX10U is optimized for static office presentations rather than video.The TDP-PX10U's suggested retail price of $1,499 is a little high but still a good value for a small, optimized-for-work, bright and reliable DLP.
