The Apptis/ServerVault Trusted Cloud offers a secure, fully-managed and federally compliant computing infrastructure for government, as well as application support services.

Federal agencies interested in cloud computing now have access to a secure, fully managed and federally compliant computing infrastructure via a joint platform announced today by Apptis Inc. and ServerVault Corp.Cloud computing enables users to access technology and software over the Internet and provides a flexible and lower-cost alternative to traditional computing models. As customers generally do not own the infrastructure, they can instead pay for what they use, reducing capital expenditure.Cloud computing can also enhance operational efficiencies and improve the performance of a technology infrastructure as end users are accessing technologies and software hosted elsewhere. Google Apps is an example of applications offered via cloud computing.The Apptis/ServerVault Trusted Cloud offers a secure, fully-managed and federally compliant computing infrastructure, as well as application support services. ServerVault is providing security and hosting, while Apptis is delivering application and infrastructure management capabilities.The Apptis/ServerVault system is built on a hosted services model. Users will be able to customize their combination of computing components. Currently the technology is in alpha testing with deployment of the beta phase, including agency participation, soon. Recently, an online storage service called The Linkup lost as much as 45 percent of the data it had been storing for its 20,000 customers. A system administrator ran a faulty script that severed the links between customer accounts and their data.
