Adobe releases Version 5 of Creative Suite design software, looking toward upcoming release of Flash Player 10.1
Version 5 of Adobe Systems Creative Suite design software is now available for shipping or download.
Creative Suite 5 is designed to work with the upcoming releases of Adobe’s Flash Player 10.1 and Adobe AIR 2, both of which are optimized to work on mobile screens found on smart phones, tablets, netbooks and other consumer electronics, Adobe said.
The Creative Suite 5 family includes five new versions: Creative Suite 5 Master Collection, Creative Suite 5 Design Premium, Creative Suite 5 Web Premium, Creative Suite 5 Production Premium, and Creative Suite 5 Design Standard.
Creative Suite also includes a new component, Adobe Flash Catalyst, which lets users develop Web applications interfaces without having to write code.
Also available either separately or bundled with one of the five new versions of Creative Suite 5 are PhotoShop CS5, Illustrator CS5, InDesign CS5, Flash CS5 Professional, Creamweaver CS5, Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 and After Effects CS5.
According to Adobe, the CS5 version of InDesign provides greater support for electronic reader devices; PhotoShop CS5 offers better edge detecting technology and the ability to remove an image element and immediately replace it with Content-Aware Fill; and Dreamweaver CS5 now supports Drupla, Joomla! and WordPress content management systems.
All told, Creative Suite 5 includes more than 250 new features aimed at providing greater impact for creative content and digital marketing, Adobe said.
The new software suite also features native 64-bit support on both Mac and Windows in Adobe PhotoShop, Premier Pro and After Effects, the company said.
To boost design performance, Adobe has added NVIDIA’s GPU-accelerated Adobe Mercruy Playback Engine to Adobe Premiere Pro, which lets users open projects faster, refine high-definition sequences in real time and play back complex projects without rendering.
The suite goes on sale today at www.adobe.com/store and authorized Adobe resellers. Prices range from $1,299 for CS5 Design Standard to $2,599 for Master Collection CS5. Upgrade pricing, volume licensing and education discounts are also available.
