Platform gives agencies timely access to unified data

Information Builders' iWay 7 platform gives analysts direct access to information from any source with more than 300 pre-packaged integration components.
Government agencies, like many organizations, are looking for ways to improve decision-making by unifying data from disparate sources, quickly assessing its quality and presenting a comprehensive view of this information to a wider audience of analysts and business partners.
Information Builders, a provider of business intelligence and analytics software, has unveiled a new version of a platform designed to enhance the integration of disparate systems and data. The iWay 7 Information Asset Management Platform gives analysts and administrators direct access to information from any source with more than 300 pre-packaged integration components. The suite of platform tools can draw on existing applications and infrastructures to help users meet their analytical or operational needs, officials said in a release. For example, security administrators can use the platform suite to build a real-time data quality firewall equipped with reporting and monitoring capabilities.
Organizations can reap maximum returns on information investments when they deploy data analysis capabilities to numerous user groups, said Gerald Cohen, president and CEO of Information Builders. “However, this approach is only effective when companies can ensure the accessibility, reliability and timelines of data from every enterprise source,” Cohen said.
The iWay 7 Information Asset Management Platform comprises three technology suites:
- iWay Integration Suite, which enhances information unification and accessibility, providing real-time interoperability between disparate systems and data.
- iWay Data Quality Suite, which is a unified solution for profiling, cleansing and enriching data. This suite provides the tools to confirm the consistency and accuracy of information.
- Master Data Suite, which ensures consistency, uniformity and accuracy across all critical data assets. The unified toolset helps organizations incorporate data governance capabilities by giving them a single view of their core entities.
The iWay 7 platform is designed to accelerate deployment and reduce risk for all types of data integration projects, including enterprise information management, data migration, Web services, on-premise or cloud-based implementations and co-existing or federated integration platforms as service environments, officials said.
The suite also is available on Amazon’s Elastic Cloud Computing (EC2) service, offering integration into a highly secure environment. Connections are protected between Amazon EC2 instances of iWay solutions and all internal corporate back-end applications and systems, such as SAP or IBM DB2, officials said.
Various federal agencies have deployed previous versions of iWay software and other Information Builders business intelligence tools to integrate data and streamline operations. The U. S Air Force combined data from multiple disparate systems to develop a common view of Mobility Air Force Command operations and logistics resources, accessible from a standard Web browser, using the company’s WebFocus BI tool and iWay Software Enterprise Integration Suite. The company’s technology is also deployed by agencies to improve fraud detection, mitigate risk and ensure compliance.
