Intergraph I/CAD update puts agencies on path to next-gen 911

The latest version of Intergraph's computer-aided dispatch software, I/CAD 9.3, integrates voice, text and data.
Intergraph Corp. released a new version of its computer-aided dispatch software, I/CAD 9.3, which the geospatial technology firm said would help public safety agencies make the move to next-generation 911 systems and services.
I/CAD 9.3 incorporates voice, text and data on the 911 menu, the company said, bringing improved features to public safety answering points (PSAPs) and call centers, including enhanced mobility and safety of 911 field staff.
Kalyn Sims, vice president of Intergraph public safety products, said I/CAD 9.3 supports next-generation communications and features simpler interface development, which will improve “efficiency with a lower total cost of ownership.” The firm “is committed to increasing PSAP efficiency and officer safety [and] improving situational awareness and decreasing response times,” she said.
Improved incident management for laptops, tablets and smartphones will give responders constant access, better maps and simpler tools, Intergraph said. Using the person-level tracking tools, agencies can manage responders outside of their vehicles on a map and send pictures and video to the field for situational awareness. I/CAD 9.3 also integrates call control and incident file creation, enabling emergency call-takers to view incoming and answered calls on the map for quicker tactical assessments.
Last month, Intergraph Government Solutions was awarded a five-year, $23 million contract by the Marine Corps Systems Command. I/CAD will be the core of the USMC's Consolidated Emergency Response Dispatch, Alert and Records Management System, the company said.
The system will provide USMC installations with hardware and software to manage incoming 911 calls and associated incident management in real-time. All Marine Corps installations are covered by the contract, including locations within the United States and the Pacific.
"This solution will greatly enhance the situational awareness of Marine Corps first responders,” said Cameron Smith, Intergraph Government Solutions director of security solutions, adding that next generation 911 technology would position the Marines for future, nationwide public safety projects like FirstNet.
