30 state IT projects finalists for NASCIO awards

NASCIO has selected 30 state IT initiatives in 10 categories as finalists for its 2011 Recognition Awards for Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Information Technology in State Government.
The National Association of State Chief Information Officers has named this year’s finalists for its annual awards program that honors states’ information technology programs.
NASCIO has selected 30 state IT initiatives in 10 categories as finalists for its 2011 Recognition Awards for Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Information Technology in State Government.
Projects and initiatives from NASCIO member states, territories, and the District of Columbia were eligible for nomination, and finalists were selected by NASCIO’s awards committee from a field of more than 100 nominees. The awards program is in its 23rd year.

“The NASCIO 2011 State Recognition Awards strive to recognize the best practices of state IT initiatives across the nation," said Brenda Decker, Nebraska CIO and co-chair for the NASCIO awards committee.
“The Awards Committee and NASCIO believe that these best practices should be shared for learning and implementation across government entities for increased efficiencies and services to citizens,” said Jerry Fralick, North Carolina CIO and co-chair for the NASCIO Awards Committee.
Finalists will be formally announced at NASCIO’s annual conference in Denver Oct. 3. Details about all the nominated projects are posted on NASCIO’s website.
