NASCIO has selected 30 state IT initiatives in 10 categories as finalists for its 2012 Recognition Awards for Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Information Technology in State Government.

The National Association of State Chief Information Officers has named this year’s finalists for its annual awards program that honors states’ information technology programs.

NASCIO has selected 30 state IT initiatives in 10 categories as finalists for its 2012 Recognition Awards for Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Information Technology in State Government.

Projects and initiatives from NASCIO member states, territories and the District of Columbia were eligible for nomination, and finalists were selected by NASCIO’s Awards Committee from a field of more than 120 nominees. The awards program is in its 24th year.

“The NASCIO 2012 State Recognition Award nominations demonstrate that states strive to support the public policy goals of state leaders, provide cost-effective service to citizens, and make available solutions that are transferable to other agencies or units of government,” said Jack Doane, Alabama director of information services division and co-chair for the NASCIO Awards Committee.

“NASCIO’s Recognition Awards program highlights leadership, innovation and collaboration,” said Kristin Russell, Colorado secretary of technology and CIO and co-chair for the NASCIO Awards Committee. “We can all benefit from the efficient business practices, quality information management, and sound technology policy, provided in this year’s nominations,” Russell said.

Finalists will be formally announced at NASCIO’s annual conference, which will be held this year in San Diego from Oct. 21-24. Details about all the nominated projects are posted on NASCIO’s website.
