We’re back! Our grand return to live events
Connecting state and local government leaders
GCN and Route Fifty will hit the road with a new free event series to explore how cities across the country are building their future today.
Like millions of others, the COVID-19 pandemic forced us out of meeting halls and onto Zoom. And while there is much to be said for working in your PJs from the comfort of your home, some things are just better in person—namely good conversation about the important and challenging work state and local decision-makers are doing in towns across America.
So after more than three years, Route Fifty and its sister publication, GCN, are happily reviving our in-person events with our new series, Road to Future Cities. Our first stop in this series will be March 28th in San Diego, California.
Throughout this series, we will explore how federal investment in critical infrastructure sectors is leading to real solutions to some of the biggest challenges facing local governments.
A new feature of this series is our emphasis on intergovernmental collaboration. The historic influx of federal funding has created a new era of partnership among federal, state and local governments. That’s why it’s important for all these stakeholders to be represented as we examine how cities are leveling up the nation’s infrastructure for the next generations and building their future today.
Featured speakers in San Diego include:
- Jason Pu, Regional Director, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development
- Kim Desmond, Chief Race and Equity Officer, City of San Diego
- Xio Crespo, Promise Zone & Special Projects Program Manager, Economic Development Department, City of San Diego
- Allan Kosup, San Diego North County Corridor Director, California Department of Transportation
If you are in San Diego or the surrounding areas, we hope you come out for these noteworthy discussions and to network while we all build our own acai bowls. For those not local to the greater San Diego area, we will have a virtual option so that you can take part. All participants are eligible to receive continuing professional education credit. See you in sunny San Diego!
