Delaware DataMil, developed by the University of Delaware, Delaware Geological Survey, Office of State Planning Coordination and the U.S. Geological Survey, will collect, integrate, maintain and distribute the state's geographic data.The data is stored as Web maps that show a series of layers representing several types of information, such as transportation, elevation, land use and land cover. Users can create and download maps of any portion of the state.The Delaware Metadata Explore function lets users search Delaware's portion of the National Spatial Data Clearinghouse. The e-mail system in Wayne Township, N.J., was overwhelmed by a modern plague: spam. Not the canned lunchmeat from Hormel Foods LLC, but the e-mail variety.The township used to run an Intel E-mail Station, which retrieved e-mail from a single Post Office Protocol account off the Internet. When the township outgrew the Intel Station, it switched to SLmail from Seattle Software Labs Inc. of Bothell, Wash. SLmail retrieved e-mail directed by the mail exchange record on the department's Domain Name System server. Clients still used Microsoft Outlook and Netscape Mail. Soon the township was supporting 400 users, all with standalone versions of Outlook Express or Netscape Mail. Many reported being inundated with unwanted solicitations and other nuisance e-mail messages.Wayne needed server-based e-mail with central management, control and backup, Pasternak said. Township officials decided on GLWebMail from Gordano Ltd. of North Somerset, England, for its antispam features such as specific address blocking and filtering. The National Foundation on the Arts and the Humanities offers grants to states for libraries through the Institute of Museum and Library Services. The grants promote information sharing between libraries and make library resources more accessible. For more information, visit
