Introducing Route Fifty: GovExec State & Local Is Expanding Into an Upgraded Independent Digital News Publication
Connecting state and local government leaders
Route Fifty is coming in a few weeks and we’re going on a crosscountry ‘Roadmap’ roadtrip. Join us for the state and local journey in advance of our relaunch this spring.
GovExec State & Local, which launched last summer as a channel within GovExec.com, is gearing up to move to Route Fifty, an expanded, upgraded independent digital news operation under the Government Executive Media Group umbrella of Atlantic Media publications, including Government Executive, Nextgov and Defense One.
“The popularity of State & Local quickly proved that there is a need for quality, broad-reaching coverage of news and ideas at the local government level,” Government Executive Media Group President Constance Sayers said in an announcement on Tuesday. "For nearly half a century, Government Executive has served federal managers and executives with news, analysis and digital tools to help them do their jobs better. We're excited to bring that capability and expertise in full to the state and local sector . . .”
The new website will launch this spring.
The mission of Route Fifty, which will connect the people and ideas that are advancing state and local government across America, will be more or less the same as GovExec’s State & Local channel.
But with an expanded staff and network of contributors, we’ll be able to drill down into our core interest areas on the state, county and municipal government level: tech, innovation, management, best practices and good ideas that transcend jurisdictional boundaries.
As I’ve traveled around the nation meeting with state and local leaders from New York City to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula to San Diego to Seattle to Raleigh, it’s evident that state and local governments are implementing some of the most innovative ideas for delivering services more efficiently and effectively and improving the lives of the local residents.
That’s the energy we want to build on.
Stay tuned for additional announcements and updates. We have some exciting things in the pipeline, including a virtual journey following U.S. Route 50 across the nation from Sacramento to the East Coast. To join us for our special “Roadmap” series, which kicks off March 16 in Sacramento, you need to sign up here.
