That's why Route Fifty is bringing you thoughtful, solutions-focused coverage of the 2024 general election.

What should you expect from Route Fifty's election coverage?

You can expect reporting that helps you understand how the choices on ballots connect with public policy goals.

Our election coverage of issues and candidates focuses on identifying examples and trends to learn from—for better or worse.

We’ll bring you stories on key state and local candidates; legislative races; ballot initiatives; and, of course, the presidential election as it affects state and local policy. 

What election stories isn’t Route Fifty covering?

You won't find many stories focused on the latest personal attacks or polling results. And while we will cover local and state elections that have broader implications, we won’t be reporting on every local candidate or issue. 

How does Route Fifty choose stories to report on?

With several decades of state and local government reporting experience among us, our staff looks for stories that resonate most at the state and local levels. If we focus on a single race, it often has bigger policy implications that are playing out in other parts of the country, too. That may mean we're not always highlighting the same storylines as mainstream national media. And we're OK with that.
